Kingly Street near Oxford Circus is not where I would normally head for a cuppa but alongside the bars and pubs is the appropriately named Urban Tea Rooms. The interior design of white tiles and wooden benches certainly gives it an urban feel but the tea list from the cornish countryside of Tregothnan Tea Plantation was what I had come here for. They say: ‘Grown in the perfect conditions on our ancient Cornish estate, the world’s first true English tea has been heralded as the ‘new Darjeeling.’' (A tea plantation in England? I really need to visit there!) I tried the Manuka infusion. ‘Manuka has been grown on the Tregothnan estate since it was first introduced to the UK in the 1800's. Honey created by bees fed exclusively on its flowers is famous for its medicinal properties'. I was served this lovely cuppa with a little pot of honey (nice touch). It was delicious...I absolutely loved it for its delicate, sweet but spicy flavours and whilst I had never heard of it before I am now hooked.
