After a walk on Hampstead Heath, what better way to refuel than with cake and a cuppa. Louis Patisserie is a Hungarian cafe, founded by immigrant Louis Permayer in 1963. And it hasn't really changed since. The patterned carpet, the panel walls, and the leather chairs take you back in time and to Eastern Europe, but with classically English teacups. With a range of tea, and an even bigger range of cakes and pastries, it's cosy and unique and the perfect spot to warm up after a wintery walk . . .
This week it was teapigs' 9th Birthday and to celebrate they gave out free tea on the 4th Nov in the UK and around the world...even Hawaii (that's a hot cuppa!) And everyone has to have a birthday party right? So in the afternoon I was invited to join the teapigs crew on their London bus tour. A Routemaster bus, decorated in style, took us passed iconic landmarks with the wonderful Russell as our ever-informative guide. On Hoe Street in Walthamstow, and filled with a pink glow, is Aura Rosa, a cafe & patisserie that draws you in with the sweet smell of baking. They are currently sorting their tea offering, and I shall definitely be returning soon to taste their range of Jenier Teas as the Golden Monkey and Chantilly Cream Chaicha sound delish. So I was one week too early for a good cuppa there, but when your standard English Breakfast cuppa is served with a melt-in-your-mouth macaroon, you can't complain!
