I'm a fan of the fan museum!
I fully admit that I only went there to check out their afternoon tea - but hey, why not work up a hunger by learning a little? It's the only museum in the UK devoted to the history of fans and the art of fan making and is home to a pretty collection of fans from around the world, some seriously old ones too. Worth taking a walk around checking them out. Now, on to the afternoon tea . . .
Tuesday Tea Tasting: I like white tea for its delicate flavours. Twinings Pure White tea does not need much brewing - in fact while they recommend 1-2 mins I wouldn't let is stew for longer than 1 minute. Then the sweet flavour comes through and it's light and refreshing. Another tip is to reuse the teabag - I found the second brew even better than the first!
In need of a tea stop on a drive down to Cornwall, and not wanting to go to another service station, a little detour off the M4 led me to Wootton Bassett and The Town Hall Tea Rooms. A cute little tea room with outdoor seating looking onto the old Town Hall - and whilst I hadn't yet made it to Cornwall, a cream tea was overdue, washed down with Twinings Darjeeling. It's one of my favourite teas so super happy to sip and watch the bustling town go about its day. (Oops...made me very late getting...
Due to a brilliant adventure in India I always have a soft spot for a Darjeeling and Twinings Golden Darjeeling hits that spot. Twinings describe it as ‘chopped herbs and a grassiness, like meadows in May' and whilst the taste is worthy of its Great Taste 2015 Award, it was actually the brilliant bright colour and flowery aroma that pleased me the most.
