An Honest Tuesday Tea Tasting Of course, all of my #TuesdayTeaTasting's are honest, but this one is particularly so due to attending the UK launch of Honest, and finding out a little bit more about the drink and its founder...
Tuesday Tea Tasting Teafields' single objective is to provide the perfect cup of tea. And it's not far off with it's Halmari Gold, a classic Assam, malty and strong with a lovely copper (not quite gold!) colour. This June 2015 (second flush) tea has lovely bright golden tips and fine, twisted black leaves. Thought this cuppa was appropriate in the lead up to Christmas, just need some Frankincense and Myrrh for a the full festive package!
Tuesday Tea Tasting Included in my tea tour of Richmond was the tea and coffee merchant Rosie & Java and well, when in Rome, I bought the Richmond Royal Blend Tea, blended to celebrate Richmond's historic Royal heritage. It's a mix of Assam (North-East India) and Ceylon (Sri Lanka), a strong cuppa, not too much brewing time needed. Definitely the perfect Rosie Lee (tea) on a chilly day after a long walk, preferably Richmond Park where there are lots of Labradors...but no big bad wolves.
Tuesday Tea Tasting Hello healthy tea drinkers...this one's for you! Who knew caffeine free tea could be so beautiful? Tea Time is a tea subscription service that use no sugar or additives, no flavourings or enhancements and no chemicals: ‘What you see is what you get.' And with 'Four Beautea' what you see are Rose, Chrysanthemum, Osmanthus, Jasmine, Goji Berry. What you get is a light, floral taste, not overpowering but naturally refreshing and cleansing. Delivered weekly or fortnightly, you...
Tuesday Tea Tasting: I saw the new Bond film Spectre at a preview screening last week (lucky me!) - don't worry, no spoilers - but I will mention the one mug of steaming hot tea that was featured. It was Q's, so I'm presuming it was Earl Grey (see Skyfall video clip above for evidence!) and so in recognition of Ian Fleming's clever tea-lover, today I'm tasting Piacha's Earl Grey Vanilla. (It seems Q also owns a Wild & Wolf Scrabble mug - in Skyfall.) It's a dark brew, quite a strong Ceylon...
Tuesday Tea Tasting After a brisk walk through the park, kicking up freshly fallen Autumn leaves, it was nice to come out of the cold and hug a cup of Jing Chai. Its a warming, spicy, colourful cuppa which matched the changing landscape out my window. Also, check out my new Tea Infuser Mug! Looks fab (as does the tea brewing in it), and cleverly designed for when you want to infuse your tea but don't want to faff about with a teapot and strainer. My tip: leave the used leaves sitting around...
My cuppa at Stephen St Kitchen (part of the Benugo chain and a collaboration with the BFI whose offices sit above the restaurant) reminded me of an article in the BFI's magazine Sight & Sound. Something Brewing, written by Hannah McGill (January 2015), was a great article on how tea, and the drinking of it, is used in film. Geekily I've re-read this a few times as I find it fascinating how the simple cuppa has been used on screen to represent so many things, including status, formality,...
Tuesday Tea Tasting It feels like an Earl Grey kinda day... Looking luxurious, Jadu Tea fits the bill with their Mademoiselle Grey (Great Taste Award 2015). The Sri Lankan Uva black tea leaves are peppered with lemon peel, orange peel, lemongrass and fiery red cornflowers - so pretty you almost don't want to add hot water (but do). The taste is your classic earl, with delicate hints of orange - I'd say it needs a long brew for a nice strong flavour. With or without milk...basically as you...
Tuesday Tea Tasting Hello fellow tea lovers and late night wide-awakers! While other people can turn off the light and fall asleep in an instant, it takes me a good few hours to travel to the land of nod. And for a tea lover this proves a bit tricky when gasping for a cuppa in the evening. Caffeine is a bugger and so, despite my addiction, I had to give myself a cuppa-cut-off: 6pm. Rooibos (Afrikaan for red bush) has been my saviour. No it is not a proper cup of tea, it never will be. But it is...
Where do I start with this blog post?! So much to talk about after a brilliant session at The Four Seasons after being invited to the Jing Tea Master launch.
