Those who know me will know how much I love this place. It is my first love when it comes to tea rooms due to many lovely memories there, cosy inside on wintery days or sitting in the sunshine in the summer. It has no website, no twitter, no instagram, it remains a vintage classic place for a lovely cuppa and a cream tea. As long as I can remember Blue Willow china patterns have donned the walls and the tables and in the years I've been going there the only change has been a recent extension...
I did a little latte experimenting today. I brewed Bluebird Tea Co's delicious Coco Chai with enough water to cover the bag, for 4 minutes. Then used a Bialetti milk frother (don't tell my boyfriend - he's territorial when it comes to his coffee equipment), added the bubbly milk and sprinkled a little cocoa powder on top. Wow, it was tasty...if I do say so myself! The coconutty flavour and spices of the chai work really well with the creamy milk - a little bit of the exotic on a rainy day in...

If you want to step back in time then head to Blackbird Tea Rooms in Brighton and sip a cuppa while an antique radio plays you some tea dance tunes and the bell on the door tinkles with the constant stream of afternoon tea lovers. My sister and I enjoyed a Darjeeling and Earl Grey, and while I was busy checking out the decor of retro tea posters, tea tins and photos of Brighton in the old days, my sister devoured our apparently delicious carrot cake.
