In busy, buzzy Soho is the Bun House & Tea Room. Upstairs is a steamy street-food-style cafe serving Chinese steamed buns and large pots of oolong. Downstairs is a Hong Kong-style speakeasy, lit with neon green Cantonese lettered lights, it's a fun throwback to 1960's Hong Kong tea rooms and serves cocktails and a much longer tea list . . .
It must be Christmas when afternoon teas start to include mince pies and chestnut and brandy macarons! Pont St's also includes Christmas trifle and gingerbread Pramma girls, inspired by their Christmas window collaboration (see below). I was at the restaurant at Belgraves Hotel to enjoy some tea ceremonies with Jing Tea whose teas compliment the delicious menu. I've raved about their tea before - and my tune hasn't changed! Their Golden Gong Fu is caramely and their chai spicy and warming - but...
Where do I start with this blog post?! So much to talk about after a brilliant session at The Four Seasons after being invited to the Jing Tea Master launch.
At their stand at the Best of Britannia exhibition, was Rob from Comins Fine Teas. He kindly took me through the small tea ceremony process that his lucky customers get to experience at their Dorset Tea House. It starts with a tiny pot of Dong Ding tea (a sweet Oolong from Taiwan) brewed for a stopwatch-timed 20 seconds, poured into a little glass jug then into a teeny cup for a couple of sips at a time.
